Reacting to my younger self - A big change

Hey readers,

How are you doing? It's getting cold in here. Well, fall is coming soon which is really exciting. :D  (I don't know why I always start my posts by talking about the weather xD) Alright, so I think it is time to take a break from all of the blogging tips and tricks and get more personal. I haven't even had a single blog post that is specifically about me. I have always talked to you guys in a general way. Well, here we go.

A few months ago,  I saw a video of myself from when I was young (about 7 years old) and I was just so surprised. I mean, it was a video that my parents recorded of me and my siblings with a very old camera. We were all very young back then.

I was so happy, so excited to be talking in front of the camera. I was so social and an active child. Also, I have a very selective memory and there is a lot of things that I don't remember from my childhood. So, I did not exactly remember how I was when I was young. When I saw that video of myself, I couldn't stop thinking about my life.

How did I changed so much? How did I go from being an active, social, excited child to being a camera shy, introverted, reserved person? I was just there sitting on my couch, watching my young self, being the girl I never thought I could be.

It is even possible to change so much? Is that normal? What got into me? After watching that video, I had all these questions in mind, which are  now left unanswered.

This is very weird. None of my siblings changed as much as I did. Also, while watching that video, the "new me" was being very entertained by the "old me". I was saying and doing so many random things in front of the camera, it was hilarious. I honestly don't even know where all that energy came from.

I saw that video a few months ago and I am still not over it. I simply can't. I am so surprised by the big change.

Has that happened to anyone of you? Have you gone through a big change and has no explanation behind it? Did you completely changed personality from when you were a child to how you are now? I would love to know about your childhood experience :)

~ Thank you so much for reading this and happy blogging ~

  1. As a child, we do not care or worry about being judged by others. I think that might be a reason why you were so comfortable in front of the camera :) I think everyone changes in time. I have changed a lot too and I like the version of me now better than when I was a kid.

    1. Yeah that is true! I guess that is one of the reasons for this big change :) Hahhaa that's nice!

  2. Wish I had a video of myself when I was younger. I only had memories but I don't think I had this drastic change in my personality. I remain to be an introvert and I remember being so shy when I was young.

    1. I actually did not know I had that video until my parents showed it to me ;0 Ohh, I started being shy in high school. Since then, I am an introvert. Thanks Nina for sharing your story with me :)

  3. I think when we are young we are carefree and don't think twice about our actions. As we age, we assume many responsibilities and become aware what others think, and I believe this starts changing us. Thanks for sharing.

    1. That's true! Awareness took my free life away x) However, I did become more mature and I think being aware of our actions is good because we know if what we are doing is right or wrong. I guess that's kind of a good change right? :) Thanks for passing by Doug! :D

  4. As we grow older, we're taught to be highly critical of ourselves, so that could be part of the reason you experienced some change. Personally, I think the older we get, the more we have different parts of ourselves develop. For example, the core parts of me haven't really changed. I've always been friendly, giving, and a huge troll XD. But as a kid into my teens I was more reserved and quiet. When I went to college I became more outgoing. I started out being more in my head, logical, and focused on knowledge...but gradually developed more feeling and intuition. I don't know if you are into psychology or astrology, but I've learned a lot about myself and my development through them XD. Thanks for the thoughtful question!

    1. Yeah that is so true. Oh that's nice! I am still in my quiet and reserved zone but I do enjoy going out with friends and have a good time. Yes, I am in into psychology xD I get that. I have learned a lot of things too and that does help but I still need to work on myself. :D Thank you for your sharing your story and your thoughts, Brittany! :)

  5. I loved cameras as a child too apparently, there's a whole load of pictures to prove that. Now I run in the other direction. But generally speaking, it could be because we're yet to be comfortable in our skin and embrace ourself wholely. Like a child would. Now we think of judgment, or image or acceptance before we act. Maybe someday, we'll surpass that.

  7. I think as we grow older, we all change, some changes can easily be noticed, some are just hidden until we look back at our younger self. Changes are really big and important part of anyone's life.

  10. I don't have a video of myself but I have very sharp memory. That's why I still have memories of my childhood. I am also changed from shy girl to a bold and strong one and I love this new personality of mine.

    3. I don't know if that's the only consistent thing. But I surely know that change can be both good or bad. You either accept it, become proud of it or learn from it :)

  12. This is a great post. Trying to see where if I changed. This brought back memories of how I was back in the day compared to now. My childhood has been a careless less responsible one and now it’s vice bersa

  14. Yes seriously!!! I always see videos of even me from a few years ago and wasn’t shy in front of the camera at all. Now I don’t want to be anywhere near a camera! It’s probably all the social media.

  16. I had a similar experience actually a few months ago. I am now 26 and the last 3-4 years passed by without me in it. I may have the Peter Pan syndrome as I just can't grew up mentally. For some reason my memories are so vividly and they are much better then the life I'm living now. I might be because you grew up and you are not innocent anymore. As a child you have a lot of energy and you are just being you. But by growing up you encounter so many bad things along the way that change the way you are and how you think about things. Believe me, everyday I wish to get the same color in life as when I was a child.. It's really strange how things can go.

    1. Oh really? Woah! I thought I was kinda the only one who was living this big sudden change but apparently I am not. Most of the people who commented are or were the same and can relate. Yeah, we have soooo much energy as a child its incredible how that energy just goes away when you become an adult. ;0 I wish the same buddy! So Strange. Thanks Jonas. :)

  17. Wow! That must have been puzzling for you. In my case, I have always been an introvert and always have been camera shy. I can still remember vividly how I would shy away from the camera or pretend picking up something or looking away while they were taking my photos. ^_^

    1. Yeep! It surely is. Hahaa yeah I do the same but sometimes I am forced to be in photos and I hate that ;0 Aweee I hope we get over this :)

  18. This is very contemplative! Time goes by, we grow. When we look back in time and "see" ourselves there, then we will realize how much we have changed, and let's try to see what kind of life fragments are there ...

  21. I think lots of people change personalities or find their personalities as they mature and find interests that may lead them into other things, such as a love for reading may see a person become more contemplative and less focused on trying to entertain themselves with things or by talking constantly but not really listening.
