Social Anxiety - Journal Writing Prompts

Hey readers,

How you doin? I am so excited because I have a lot of things planned for this blog and I can't wait to share all the of those posts with you. I have interviews coming up, book reviews, collaborations, and so much more. 

Today, let's talk about being social. We are always surrounded by people. Sometimes it is our family and friends but sometimes it can also be your colleagues, classmates or people you know but are not very close to. Why is it that we meet some people and suddenly feel so comfortable with them whereas, we have difficulty expressing ourselves to people we have known our whole life?  Isn't that weird?  I guess it all depends on how they make you feel, how people treat you and how do you reciprocate to that. 

Social anxiety is such a delicate subject and it is even harder to talk about when you have difficulty expressing yourself. I have never really written anything personal on here except for my last post. A lot of you were able to relate and share your experience and I hope that this post helps you just as well. Today, I am reviewing a digital journal written by the lovely, Kate. 

Kate is a blogger at Love My Anxious Brain . She writes about social anxiety, mental health and review books. I am so glad that I have come across her blog and found this gem. If you have social anxiety and love writing in journals, this is for you. 




What I loved the Most

I can't begin to tell you how this journal has been so helpful to me. The best part being, it is a digital journal so you do not have to print anything (unless you want to). I must say that I appreciate Kate for using such warm colors for the journal as well as the illustrations. You can see an example, above, I love that picture, I think it represents the contents well. The journal has various colors, but it is simply beautiful. 


How it has helped me.

I don't really want to go in details because if you decide to purchase the journal, I don't want to spoil anything. But, there are are 31 great prompts to help you work on your social anxiety triggers. It really makes you feel good because you aren't just writing on a page, you are doing exercises that helps you mentally. Also, Kate has activities that will make you socialize with your friends and doing fun things. You might even re-connect with an old friend and interact with people more. A simple message can change everything. 

The step by step process in this guide is amazing. Kate has written prompts that will make you think about yourself, about your past and future. She makes you reflect deeply and I love that it doesn't end there. Once the 31 prompts are over, you can keep still work on each of them every single day until you need it. Kate also has a blog which has great articles about mental health that you can read and get inspired from. 


My Review on the Journal 

This journal was beyond my expectations. I did not expect to learn so much about myself in such little time. These prompts were not only helpful but also very interesting. I have been writing in this journal every single day and it has helped me seeing things from another perspective. I love that it was not repetitive. Every day, there was a new prompt that challenged me to work on myself. This journal made me realize that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I am so grateful to Kate for sharing her story and helping us share ours. Definitely recommend to anyone struggling with social anxiety.

Social anxiety can be treated, you simply have to accept that it is a part of your life and work on it, until it isn't.

  1. I was diagnosed with social anxiety disorders about a decade ago, among other issues. Never really thought to use a journal to help with it. I personally found graded exposure quite useful though

  3. I used to struggle with social anxiety when I was younger and writing has been my outlet and my own way of recovering. I used to write in my own journals back then and it's so helpful.

  4. Thanks for sharing this great article. I used to have horrible social anxiety when I was a teenager and in my 20s. Now I'm in my 30s, it doesn't bother me as much. It's still there, but it's a lot more manageable. I think this book will help a lot of people. Great post :)

  6. I suffer with social anxiety. A lot of people have made fun of me and just avoided me due to my social anxiety. I have found that challenging negative thoughts and keeping being social to help me. I love the journaling idea. Its great to write down your thoughts.
