Meet the lifestyle and travel blogger - Karl-Heinz Limberg

Hey readers,

Guess what? I am starting a blog interview series. How exciting is that?! I just love the idea of virtual interviews. You can simply sit at home and get to know all about someone's life. I just can't wait for you guys to meet all the new bloggers that I have been interacting with all these years. In fact, I get to discover a lot of other bloggers myself which is amazing.

***I have edited my response to the answers of the interview in this color.

So, if you are ready with your hot chocolate, let's begin this interview!

I am happy to start off this interview series with one of the greatest travel blogger I have come across with and been subscribed to for years. I am honored to introduce you to the award-winning blogger, Karl Heinz Limberg. I love his posts as he adds a personal touch to it with his experiences and photogenic pictures of him. Not only does he posts his travel experiences, but he also blogs about health and has great advice for fitness. So, if you love traveling and need to improve your fitness, check this blogger out!

To start off this interview, can you tell us a little about yourself?

I am Karl-Heinz Limberg, a German blogger and tourism consultant with a long background in the international travel and hospitality industry. I am very keen on a healthy but yet pleasurable lifestyle with a special interest for fitness, yoga and nutrition. I care a lot of animal and environment protection and above all, I enjoy life!

This is awesome! Happiness is the ultimate goal. It is nice to know that you are motivating your readers by maintaining your health and promoting a safe environment.

Your blog covers mostly your travel experiences as well a touch of health and fitness. How did you decide that this will be the purpose of your blog? What was your inspiration?

The intent was to blog for well-off "best agers" (50 plus) that are into travel and a healthy lifestyle. It is no secret that this target group is very lucrative, given the fast ageing of Western societies. One of the most exciting topics for me is the question of how old can we get in a good shape. I have done research and written an article about the so-called superagers.

That is a great goal for your blog, Karl. It is nice to hear that you want to help people, especially them who needs it the most. I love the positive message that you are sending out.

Do you have any stories that you would like to share about any of your experiences while traveling?

The funniest stories of my travel experiences are definitely the ones of my time as a tour leader, long time ago. Overbooked hotels, nasty tourists and funny characters. I have blogged about some weird but great times in Spain and Kenya:

https://www.khllifestyle.com/blog-entries/palma-de-mallorca-where-it-all-begun

Omg, the things that you see and learn while going to new places. These articles are very entertaining, you guys should definitely go check it out. :D

Do you have a specific routine when it comes to publishing your post? Are you more someone who schedules a post in advance or simply write everything on the spot?

I try to publish twice a month, sometimes only in German or English, sometimes in both languages. Travel blogs are always published after my trip since I do a lot of research.

Are there any tools/apps that you use for your blog that you would like to share with us?

I edit the photos myself. For the English proofreading, I use grammarly.com - a perfect site to avoid mistakes in your copy. I also use SEOBILITY, where you can learn a lot about keywords, your ranking and your competitors. Both pages are not for free, but the cost is reasonable.

This is nice. I love the fact that you edit your own photos. I love your pictures on your blog. Those are some great tools and of course, it might have a cost but if it is helping you, it is worth it.

What is the best way, according to you, to promote a blog post after publishing it?

I get most of the blog traffic through Google, followed by Facebook and Instagram where I have over 15.6K followers and an engagement rate of 12%. Facebook groups can also be very helpful. I also send out newsletters but my advice is not to overdo.

How long have you been blogging for? Do you see yourself blogging in the future?

I started my blog in 2015 and intend to continue for a couple of years. I have invested so much time and money and above all, it´s fun for me!

How great is that?! As long as you enjoy it, there is no stopping you. :)

We can see that you have been recognized for your work and have received an award as well as worked with many great people. How does that feel?

Receiving an award is always great of course, although we are now somehow flooded with all kinds of awards. But it always helps to call yourself "an award-winning blogger or consultant" :-)

Wow! That's impressive. I think it is nice to recognize bloggers who has a motive to help people and share a positive energy and so you totally deserve this. Congratulations! Also, if you wish to check out his awards, please head to: https://www.khllifestyle.com/about/about-khl

What has been your most successful post? Why do you think that post in particular intrigued your viewers?

An article about a winter vacation in one of Germany´s top wellness resorts in the Bavarian Alps. This blog post was shared by the hotel on their social media channels which resulted in tremendous results:

This is amazing. I have read this post and you guys should too. People usually tend to go to warm places for vacation but this will inspire you to have a change in scenery.

What would you do to improve your content?

Do even more research and always think about the value for my readers. You can learn a lot if you look at articles of bloggers that rank very high on Google. However, in the end you write for your audience and not for google. I also think about lifestyle subjects that could interest many people in different countries. "Better ageing" is definitely one of them.

Well said! You write for yourself and the readers. Appreciating your audience is very important.

Given the current situation of Covid 19, what advice would you like to give to your audience as a traveler?

Don´t stop traveling but travel wisely. Avoid crowds, enjoy nature. Tourism is so important for many countries so Covid 19 has put their existences in danger. As travelers, we should help those destinations and tourism stakeholders as much as we can. However, check out the places where you are going/staying. In these uncertain times, I prefer small hotels that care a lot for hygienic measures.

That is great advice, Karl! I think people should be able to enjoy their lives and explore while traveling but as you said, safely. Please, wash your hands often, wear your masks and stay safe everyone.

A thank you note to Karl:
